HAPPY THANKSGIVING

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

I wanted to send you wonderful Thanksgiving Day wishes. May you have a joyous time of celebration for all of the blessings God has sent us.

I also wanted to send an update on Lori.  She was released from the hospital yesterday afternoon. She was told she will not be able to put any weight on the leg for about four weeks. (I think I will have to tie her down to make her comply!)
May the sweet blessings of the Lord be showered on each and every one of you. I count it a blessing to have you in my life.

MESSAGE OF THE WEEK FOR SUNDAY NOVEMBER 13th

EPAPHRODITUS – A TRUE BIBLE HERO  PHILIPPIANS 2:25-30

25 Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, but your messenger and the one who ministered to my need;
26 since he was longing for you all, and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick.
27 For indeed he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
28 Therefore I sent him the more eagerly, that when you see him again you may rejoice, and I may be less sorrowful.
29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem;
30 because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.

Dear Friends,

After my wife Joyce died in January 2015, I made a commitment to turn my grief into positive ministries.

God has richly blessed me with open doors of service beyond anything I have ever experienced before. I am including a current report of what God is allowing me to accomplish.

I am pastor of Tumwater Chapel of Grace. It is a small congregation that meets in a funeral chapel. Over the years I have been called upon to officiate at hundreds of funerals. It allows me to minister to families at a critical time in their life.

Our small congregation has had a profound ministry in reaching into prisons and assisting individuals and families that are destitute. Since October 2000 I send out a Daily-E-Votional to thousands of subscribers five days a week. In addition, I record a daily reading that covers the bible in one year. I also have started recording a weekly sermon that I send out on Saturdayand Sunday. I have written and published five books in the past 18 months and if my memory is correct that makes a total of eight books.

The important thing is for each of us to share Jesus and His love with everyone we meet.  Please greet one another with the sweet spirit of love that I feel for each of you. I may not be able to see you personally in this life, but I eagerly look forward to a wonderful “Homecoming Celebration” that will continue through eternity.

MESSAGE OF THE WEEK "BELLY ACHING BELIEVERS NOT WELCOME"  TUMWATER CHAPEL PASTOR CECIL A THOMPSON SUNDAY NOV 06, 2016

BELLY ACHING BELIEVERS NOT WELCOME
PHILIPPIANS 2:14-19
14 Do all things without complaining and disputing,15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.
17 Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.

19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state.

THE SANDS OF ETERNITY!
Ecclesiastes 3:11
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end."
Watch Video
Years ago I heard a minister tell of an incident in a hospital elevator where he had just come from visiting a very ill patient. A young man overheard him speak about eternity and, perhaps wanting to mock his view, asked the minister where eternity was. The minister told the boy to place his hand on his chest to feel the beat of his heart. "Young man, eternity is one heartbeat away!" That may answer where eternity is or at least how close we are to it, but just how long is eternity?
Our daughter was in the hospital near death. One afternoon as the two of us spoke quietly, she said she felt she was cheated out of half of her life. She went on to say that Grandpa was 74 when he died and here she was just 35.
That evening as I drove into the garage I noticed that the car had been bringing in sand. I took out a sheet of typing paper and swept up some of the sand. I then sat at the kitchen table and counted out 74 grains. Some were larger than others, but all of them were quite small. I placed the 74 grains of sand in a tiny sample perfume bottle.
The next day as I entered her room I placed the bottle on her bed. When she asked what it was I told her it was Grandpa. I asked her to imagine the earth being nothing but fine sand. Each grain represented one year of eternity. The 74 grains in the bottle represented Grandpa's life. Compared to the entire globe of sand it was nothing. Whether a person's life lasted long or short, compared to eternity it was nothing.
It is what we do with the years we are given that matters. We can choose to confess our sins and accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior or we can continue our own willful way and suffer the dreadful consequences prepared for the lost.
I pray that the video that accompanies today's Daily-E-Votional will assist you in making the right choice. Please feel free to share it with others while there is still time.

Philippians 2:1-4
1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

PASTOR CECIL A. THOMPSON TUMWATER CHAPEL MESSAGE OF THE WEEK: “ GOOD CONDUCT” Philippians 1:127 SUNDAY - OCT 16, 2016

PHILIPPIANS 1:27
“Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God. 29 For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, 30 having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.”

PASTOR CECIL A. THOMPSON TUMWATER CHAPEL MESSAGE OF THE WEEK “WHAT AM I PREACHING?” based on Philippians 1:15-18 OCT 9, 2016

You may recall I have started sending out a message of the week that relates to the study we will be having on Sunday. To  listen to the audio of the message click on the following: http://tumwaterchapelofgrace.blogspot.com/

Here is this week’s message WHAT AM I PREACHING?” based on Philippians 1:15-18

15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill:
16 The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains;
17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel.
18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

PASTOR CECIL A. THOMPSON TUMWATER CHAPEL MESSAGE OF THE WEEK “WHY AM I HERE?” based on Philippians 1:12-14 OCT 2, 2016

Here is this week’s message WHY AM I HERE?” based on Philippians 1:12-14:
12 But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, 13 so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; 14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become
confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

PASTOR CECIL A. THOMPSON TUMWATER CHAPEL MESSAGE OF THE WEEK PHILIPPIANS 1: THE BIRTH OF THE CHURCH 09.25.2016

PHILIPPIANS ONE
THE BIRTH OF THE CHURCH   09.25.2016

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

  1. What things does Paul pray for the church at Philippi?
  2. Is there something that can be added to love?
  3. What things does Paul want the church to approve?
  4. What are the fruits of righteousness?

Are they the same as the fruit of the Spirit? Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

What is the ultimate purpose of the fruits of righteousness?

12 But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, 13 so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; 14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: 16 The former[b] preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; 17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.
  1. What does Paul want the church to know about his being in prison?
  2. How should we look at the calamities in our own life?
  3. How does the entire palace guard feel about Paul’s confinement?
  4. What effect has his being in prison had on most of the brethren in the Lord?
  5. Are there some who pervert the preaching of Christ?
  6. What effect do they suppose inflict on Paul?
  7. Are there some who preach the gospel from goodwill?
  8. What do those who preach out of love know about Paul?
  9. What is Paul’s conclusion about the matter?

19 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 For[c] I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. 24 Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you. 25 And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith, 26 that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.
  1. What confidence does Paul express in verse 19?
  2. What part does the church play in his deliverance?
  3. In what way can we be involved in the ministry of others today?
  4. Does Paul have a concern about his witness?
  5. In what way does Paul express his feelings about life and death?
  6. What does life or death hold for Paul?
  7. Which does Paul prefer?
  8. What confidence does Paul express in verse 25?
  9. How would you define progress and joy of faith? Do you have it?
  10. What does Paul desire that the church pray for him?
  11. Does Paul anticipate seeing the church again?

PASTOR CECIL A. THOMPSON TUMWATER CHAPEL MESSAGE OF THE WEEK PHILIPPIANS THE BIRTH OF THE CHURCH 09.25.2016

PASTOR CECIL A. THOMPSON TUMWATER CHAPEL
MESSAGE OF THE WEEK PHILIPPIANS THE BIRTH OF THE CHURCH 09.25.2016
PHILIPPIANS
The birth of the church (about 50 AD)
Acts 16
6 Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. 7 After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. 8 So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.
11 Therefore, sailing from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samothrace, and the next day came to Neapolis, 12 and from there to Philippi, which is the foremost city of that part of Macedonia, a colony. And we were staying in that city for some days. 13 And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there. 14 Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. 15 And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” So she persuaded us.
20 And they brought them to the magistrates, and said, “These men, being Jews, exceedingly trouble our city; 21 and they teach customs which are not lawful for us, being Romans, to receive or observe.” 22 Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. 23 And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. 24 Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.
25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. 27 And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. 28 But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.”
29 Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. 34 Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.
