TUMWATER CHAPEL UPDATE: SUNDAY 11.29. 2015 Revelation Ten (NKJV) - PASTOR CECIL A. THOMPSON

TUMWATER CHAPEL UPDATE: SUNDAY 11.29. 2015 Revelation Ten (NKJV) -
PASTOR CECIL A. THOMPSON

Revelation Ten (NKJV)
1I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbowwas on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. When he cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices. Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them.”

  1. How was the angel in verse one described?
  2. What did he hold in his hand?
  3. Where were his feet placed?
  4. How was his voice described in verse 3?
  5. What happened when he cried out?
  6. What was John preparing to do when the seven thunders uttered their voices?
  7. Why did John not write what the voices uttered?
  8. What orders did he receive from heaven?

The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised up his hand to heaven and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer, but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets.

  1. What did the angel with one foot on land and the other on the sea do?
  2. Who did he swear by?
  3. How does he describe God in verse 6?
  4. What message is found in the second part of verse 6 and verse 7?
  5. To whom had God previously declared His mystery to?

Then the voice which I heard from heaven spoke to me again and said, “Go, take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the earth.” So I went to the angel and said to him, “Give me the little book.” And he said to me, “Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth.”

  1. What instructions was john given in verse 8?
  2. What did John say to the angel holding the book?
  3. Do you think John felt nervous? How would you feel?
  4. What was John told to do with the little book?
  5. What did the angel say about the taste of the little book?

10 Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter. 11 And he said to me, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.”

  1. How did the little book taste?
  2. What effect did the book have on John’s stomach?
  3. What was John told to prophesy?

TUMWATER CHAPEL UPDATE: SUNDAY 11.29. 2015 Revelation Nine (NKJV) - PASTOR CECIL A. THOMPSON

Revelation Nine (NKJV)
Fifth Trumpet: The Locusts from the Bottomless Pit
1Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.
  1. What fell from heaven at the fifth trumpet?
  2. Was it an object or a being?
  3. What was given to the star and what did he do with it?
  4. Describe the effect of opening the bottomless pit.
  5. What proceeded out of the pit? What power were they given?
  6. What three things were they ordered not to harm?
  7. What were they ordered to torment and for how long?
  8. How was the torment described?
  9. How will people react to the torment and what will escape them?

The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men. They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth. And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle. 10 They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrewis Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.
  1. Describe the appearance of the locusts?
  2. What sound did they make?
  3. What was in their tails?
  4. How long were they permitted to hurt men?
  5. What was the name of the king over them?

12 One woe is past. Behold, still two more woes are coming after these things.
How would you feel if you knew there was more to come?
Sixth Trumpet: The Angels from the Euphrates
13 Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 Now the number of the army of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them. 17And thus I saw the horses in the vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone. 18 By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed—by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths. 19 For their power is in their mouth and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents, having heads; and with them they do harm.
  1. What happened when the sixth angel sounded?
  2. Where did the voice come from?
  3. What instructions were given to the sixth angel?
  4. What had these four angels been prepared for?
  5. What were their instructions?
  6. How large was the army of the horsemen?
  7. Describe those who sat on the horses.
  8. How many people were killed by these three plagues?
  9. What was the manner of death?

20 But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. 21 And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
  1. Did the survivors of these plagues repent?  What were their sins?

“THANK YOU LORD!”
I Chronicles 16:8-9
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples!  Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works!”

The last Thursday in November is designated Thanksgiving Day (at least here in the United States). Other countries celebrate Thanksgiving Day on different dates. It is a wonderful day of enjoying family, friends, and food … not necessarily in that order!

There are a few thoughts that run through my mind concerning Thanksgiving Day. For one thing, it seems sad that we have just one day in order to express our thanks. What about all the other days of the year? Many people never even take time to bow their heads and thank the Lord before they partake of their regular daily meals.

There are so many other things that we need to thank the Lord for besides providing the food. We can certainly thank Him for the physical things that we have been given, but we need to stop and also thank Him for the spiritual things.

I want to urge you on this Thanksgiving Day to take time to thank God for salvation. Thank Him for loving us even when we are unlovable. Thank Him for the people that He has brought into each of our lives to make our life complete.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

HELPS SPECIAL PROJECT: BRING SANTINO'S CHILDREN TO AMERICA (https://youtu.be/MySGGZw7f8Y)

HELPS SPECIAL PROJECT:
BRING SANTINO'S CHILDREN TO AMERICA

Santino Nyang is one of the original “Lost Boys of Sudan” as accurately depicted in the movie, “The Good Lie”, starring Reese Witherspoon.  He now lives in Phoenix, AZ and works at the Fry’s Foods (a division of Kroger) near his home. (SEE: http://nevalleynews.org/5184/lifestyles/ae/frys-foods-holds-fundraiser-for-paradise-valley-community-college-student/)

At age 11 the North Sudanese Muslim Army raided his village killing raping the women, killing the men and any children they found.  They killed Santino’s father but his mother lived through that ordeal. Santino was sent to run into the jungle by his mother so he would live.  For four days he ran through the jungle coming across lions, tigers and snakes before he found another human, and that was his cousin.  They met thousands of others fleeing the Muslims all heading to safety in Ethiopia.   They had to keep hiding from the Muslim soldiers who patrolled the paths they had to take to get to Ethiopia.

After walking for 3 months and 1,000 miles they arrived in an Ethiopian refugee camp.  After 2 years there the U.N. sent them to southern Sudan, so they had to walk another 1,000 miles --- as a boy of only 13 – to another refugee camp in Kenya.

In 2000 Santino and his cousin were relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where he became a U.S citizen in 2007, works at a Fry’s grocery store in NE Phoenix and is working toward a degree in Retail Management at Maricopa Community Colleges

In 2010 Santino went to Africa to visit his family and was very surprised when they announced to him they had found a bride for him and they were to get married on this visit.   Santino’s wife is very attached to her mother and was not ready to come to the U.S. but she is now ready to come with the children to be a complete family.

Over the past few years, from subsequent visits to Africa Santino is now the very proud father of a 4-year-old boy and a girl who is nearly 2.  When he went to Africa for 2 months recently neither of his children left his side for a second … that is how much they miss him and need him.

With the rapidly growing spread of ISIS and other radical Muslims in Africa, Santino fears for the safety of his 2 beautiful, loving children and wants to bring them to the safety of the United States … HE NEEDS YOUR HELP.   He does not want them to have to flee to the jungle when the Muslim Soldiers decide to attack the village where his children live.

John Chandler is working hard to help; “All I am asking for is a few dollars from many people to reach the $20,000 Santino will need to cover all of the costs for him to fly to Africa, complete the stacks of paperwork the African government and the U.S. Consulate / Embassy will require for him to bring his children here --- because Santino is a U.S. citizen, so are his children.”  (To learn more about Santino Nyang and his fundraising goals, visit http://www.gofundme.com/stqzsk)

If you have any questions you may phone – John Chandler – if I do not have the answers you want, he will ask Santino personally for the answers.

TUMWATER CHAPEL UPDATE: SUNDAY 11.15. 2015 Revelation Eight PASTOR CECIL A. THOMPSON

Revelation Eight (NKJV)
1When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets. Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake. So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
  1. What happened when the seventh seal was opened? For how long?
  2. What was given to the seven angels who stand before God? V. 2
  3. Another angel appeared. What did he hold and what happened?
  4. What effect did it have on earth?
  5. What did the seven angels prepared to do?

  1. Describe what fell into the sea?
  2. What effect did it have?
  3. (Today there are well over 55,000 merchants ships on the world’s oceans. Think of the financial impact on world trade?)

Third Trumpet: The Waters Struck

10 Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.

  1. In verse ten, what happened when the third angel sounded?
  2. How was this different than verse eight?
  3. What effect did it have?

Fourth Trumpet: The Heavens Struck

12 Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night. 13 And I looked, and I heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!”

Revelation Seven (NKJV)
After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree. Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” And I heard the number of those who were sealed. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. 16 They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; 17 for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters.

First Trumpet: Vegetation Struck
The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

Second Trumpet: The Seas Struck
Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

  1. What happened when the fourth angel sounded?
  2. What warning did John hear in verse 13?
